How Sweden's Election Result Is Brewing a Storm in Scandinavian Politics The Swedish general election has yielded a result that will keep politicos on edge until at least Wednesday, when local election boards finalize the count of postal votes and ballots cast from abroad.
The centre left opposition, led by Social Democrats' leader Magdalena Andersson, appears to have edged out the right wing governing bloc of Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
The numbers are tantalizingly close: with around 94% of votes counted, the left leaning bloc is projected to win 176 seats in the 349 seat Riksdag, while the right wing government trails behind with 173 seats.
